‘The Favourite’ leads BAFTA nominations

With 12 category nods, “The Favourite” is in the running for everything from best film to best makeup, hair, and costume.

Nominated for both Best Film and Best British Film, thanks to its status as a US, Irish, and British co-production, 18th century regal drama “The Favourite” has collected a total of 12 nods from nearly every eligible category at the 2019 BAFTA Awards.

Those commendations include Best Director for Yorgos Lanthimos, Best Actress for Olivia Colman, Best Supporting Actress for both Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz, categories whose form winners tend to carry with them at the Oscars.

There are also placings for “The Favourite” within Original Screenplay, Cinematography, Production Design, Costume Design, Makeup and Hair, and Editing.

Other notable multiple nominees included fellow Oscar frontrunner “A Star is Born” alongside “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “BlacKkKlansman,” “Can You Ever Forgive Me?” and “Vice.”

The 72nd British Academy Film Awards take place February 10, 2019.
